Overview of the Role
The main role of a system engineer is to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. They will be part of a team of engineers that demonstrate high technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.
Qualified systems engineers will have a background in on-prem and cloud systems and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Manage and monitor owned systems and infrastructure
Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
Proactively ensure the required operational and security levels of systems and infrastructure
Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with the team to implement those fixes
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
Maintain an up-to-date documentation of all owned systems
Implement and maintain, scripts and solutions, to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any task
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
Provide second level support to NOC
Liaise with vendors and other technical professionals for problem resolution
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to address and resolve technical escalations
Requirements
3 to 5 years in system administration
Proven working experience in installing, configuring, optimizing and troubleshooting Microsoft based environment
Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of applications (e.g. Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Federation Services, MS Teams, File sharing, exchange with office365, SQL)
Solid experience with virtualization (e.g. Hyper-v and VMware)
Cloud experience, Preferably Azure and AWS
Experience with monitoring systems, preferably Azure Monitor
Knowledgeable in Windows server security and OS hardening
Knowledgeable in networking and storage technologies
Technical Competencies
Windows Servers
Active directory Services (e.g AD DS, AD FS, AD NPS, WSUS, DNS, DHCP)
File sharing, windows server file sharing and permissions
Azure and AWS infrastructure management
O365 Administration
