Our client Dubai Institute of Design & Innovation is the first multidisciplinary curriculum in the region offering four disciplines: Product Design, Multimedia Design, Fashion Design, and Strategic Design Management. Interdisciplinary design education is at the core of DIDI’s mission, with an innovative curriculum developed in collaboration with the MIT School of Architecture and Urban Planning and Parsons the New School.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
Develop and deliver high-quality courses on strategic design management at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Create syllabi, lesson plans, and course materials that align with current industry practices and academic standards.
Provide Advising and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional development in the field of strategic design management.
Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the strategic design management curriculum, ensuring its relevance and alignment with industry demands and DIDI disciplines.
Identify opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and integration of emerging concepts into the curriculum.
Incorporate case studies, simulations, and real-world examples to enrich the learning experience and promote practical application of strategic principles.
Research and Development:
Publish research findings in reputable academic journals, books, and conference proceedings.
Stay engaged with the academic community by attending conferences, seminars, and workshops, and presenting research findings.
Academic Service and Engagement:
Participate in academic committees, task forces, and departmental meetings to contribute to the overall development and governance of the institution.
Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, including advising on course selection, career pathways, and research opportunities.
Engage in outreach activities, such as guest lectures, workshops, and industry collaborations, to foster partnerships and promote the institution’s reputation in the field of strategic design management.
Contribute to accreditation processes and quality assurance initiatives to ensure academic excellence.
Qualification:
Ph.D. in Business Administration, Management, Strategic management, Innovation thinking or related field
A distinguished record of research and publication in strategic design management or related fields.
Essential Criteria:
Proven teaching experience at the graduate/ postgraduate level, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage and inspire students.
3yrs of experience in design practice or research utilizing advanced digital design, visualization, or fabrication processes.
Prior experience in industry or consulting is desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts effectively.
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities, with a commitment to academic excellence and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Active involvement in professional organizations and networks related to strategic design management.
